The Prime Minister is safe for now, but we need to stay on alert until our suspect with the reinforced cybernetic body is caught, killed, or the Prime Minister decides her life is no longer in danger.
The Tachikomas are still searching with Pazu and Saito. Togusa, I'm sending you, Ishikawa, and Bohma the visual feed from the interceptors of our suspect. We're looking for someone who might have military ties. Batou, you're staying here with the Chief and I while the Prime Minister finishes up the night here.

What a wonderful day for paperwork. I have a massive pile to sort through while we're on security detail.
I'm not sure why Batou keeps shooting me skeptical glances just because I'm smiling and humming while I work. Maybe he's feeling overworked and needs a short break.

[Loud crashing noises and explosions can be heard around a dockyard. Even though Motoko is the only one seen, there are two sets of feet audibly pounding against the ground in between two buildings. As a missile zooms up from behind, Motoko's voice sounds a bit electronic as she calls over the cybercomm.]
Tachikoma, show me the trajectory of--
[She's cut off by the missile hitting the stone building to her right. Stone fragments break through the wall of the other building as a larger piece hits her in the back. As she grunts in pain, her gun strap breaks, sending it flying out of her hands as she hits the ground. The ground beneath her gives way into a giant pit. The person she was running with falls in with her, only visible as a flash of brown that covers her as some stone slabs fall over and trap them underground. Silence falls and the video is obscured by static, making the other person's identity impossible to make out.]
Are you alright?
[Eventually, the video comes back after they sit up and roll off of her, a flare of audio static removing any trace of a reply to her question. A small flash of a brown jacket goes out of sight as Motoko sits up to examine her situation. When the audio returns, her voice has the electronic quality it takes on when talking over the cybercomm.]
Tachikoma, status report.
[From nowhere, the Tachikoma pipe up excitedly one at a time.]
Aah! Major! You're okay!
Yeah, still in one piece.
[As she speaks to them, she attempts to pull her leg back, but it's visibly stuck underneath a steel beam with her foot on the other side.]
We're expecting a nuclear strike! It could come any minute now! You should get out of the area immediately!
Has the government released any official statements?
They announced there would be more air strikes as needed in order to secure the area for the inspection team.
[Even though Motoko looks over to something when the audio fades out to static again, it's not visible to who or what she's directing her next two words once the audio returns.]
I see.
Major, don't tell me you're--
Yes, I'm trapped under a pile of rubble. Looks like we'll have to leave this in Batou's hands.
[And then the video shorts out completely.]

Tieria Erde, if and when you see this, I want you to explain to me what was so important that you up and disappeared to who the hell knows where. While you're at it, you can tell me where you are, unless you'd prefer I track you down myself.
[The irritation is evident in her voice as she speaks:]
I had all my paperwork settled for my vacation time and now I have to give it up to put up with our suspect, Tsutomu Tadokoro, who has a fetish for androids and full prosthetics. I'm really not looking forward to tonight where I'll be stuck hanging around with even more like him.
[Disgust slowly creeps its way in as she continues....] And we're going undercover to this "party" of Tadokoro's, with my orders being to play the part of a sex doll. [She makes a sound of disgust.]
I wish I still had that spare prosthetic body.

You'll have to forgive me for not getting back to you sooner. I added a few extra components I thought of last minute, and the final testing on the Tachikomas has been completed as of a few days ago. Thanks for your help, they work just as I remember.

I'm surprised the Tachikomas came out as well as they did. If we can manage to get back to work, they'll be helpful with their new networking functions. I would have reported back to Hakuba sooner, but negotiating to get the Tachikoma's AI onto the satellite launching today took quite a bit of convincing. Thankfully, the Chief was able to help pull some strings for me with the American government, and just in time too.
To think it took a month and a half to fix my mistake.

Thanks for letting me take up residence on the TARDIS' server. Almost two months have already passed back home and I'm finally ready to return to my body. I'll try to keep in touch in a more normal fashion as I don't intend to lose my head like that again.

And here I thought I told him not to do anything stupid, but I suppose I shouldn't complain. I had a feeling that he would and I did get my watch back. In addition, it was a good way to further test my range with a puppet body.
It was interesting to see that the few remaining Tachikomas showed up to save Batou and were willing to sacrifice themselves for him. Perhaps they truly did gain ghosts, but I won't know for sure. I may never know. Maybe I'll get an answer when I have a chance to study the neurochip I took from their wreckage. How can I admit that I was wrong about them? They weren't useless as weapons but I can't go back in time and change my actions. I'll worry about that later as I have more pressing matters at the moment.
We're planning on leaving the city by plane at sunrise, but my ghost is telling me it's not safe to go out in the open. I guess it's time for my backup plan, and I'm willing to accept the risks that come with it.

I'll admit, it was a little fun being a copycat for a little while, and we got the information we needed to confirm Secretary General Yakushima's connection with the Laughing Man incident. Now we just need to watch our steps when we go to arrest him.

We finally took Bureau Chief Niimi into custody and he committed cyberbrain suicide, so now we've hit another dead end. On top of that, the Chief's going to be out of commission for about a week and we're now down two members. I would've been a third if it hadn't been for an unusual intervention.
On the bright side, it looks like we might just have gotten a big break for our case. Not only do we have the last three members of the Narc Squad in custody, but I got my hands on some extremely useful data. I'll just need to spend some time alone to review pieces of it in more detail.
[Unhackable]
That fiasco almost made me late to get this body repaired, but they did a good enough job since it looks good as new. I'm not sure what I'll need a spare body for, but you never know when a puppet will come in handy. And I know just where to store it for the time being too.

I've got my prosthetic body swap scheduled for two days from today. I still have to call up my friend and see if she'll come as the official witness. I hope I gave her enough warning to find someone to cover her shift.
Even though it'll be a pain in the ass to stick around with this stump for the next few days, it doesn't stop me from net diving, driving, or half of the other things I'd do normally.
[Private to self, unhackable]
Hopefully the body swap won't take too long, I have another appointment with the guy who's going to replace my arm an hour after. It's kind of sad how attached I am to this body, but I suppose having an extra on hand wouldn't hurt.
Good to see that ridiculous virus wore off too.

[A muffled explosion is audible before the video clicks on and is directed toward a doorway where this is visible.]
Shit!
[An arm covered in grey spandex comes into view at the same time a machine gun goes off. While the video blacked out, shattering glass is heard as are the exosuit's hydraulics, almost dulling out the rain splashing. When the video returns, it shows a view of a parking lot where two men are opening the rear doors of a car and setting up something large for a moment before the pavement rushes forward and angles to the side. Just as the thud of cracking pavement sounds, the video and audio both die. When it returns, the armored suit is on the ground with a number of large bullet holes punched into it, the tip of the source still smoking and angled down. The audio picks up a man begging for a hatch to be opened, but coming in a little stronger are Motoko's thoughts and the cybercomm line, which are bitter.]
Son of a bitch is lucky I'm out of rounds. Saito, Pazu, get over here and take this bastard into custody.
[Two men's voices echo over the line with an affirmative. The gun is lowered off to the side as an arm comes into view, however the grey spandex suit is ripped to reveal the skin, and everything from a couple inches below the elbow is missing with a few wires hanging out.]
Hrm. Looks like I need a replacement.

Interesting theory Togusa has. We'll be short one member for the time being while he does his independent investigation. I'm curious as to what it'll turn up.
It's nice up here, a good place for thinking if I want to be alone for a little while.
One of these days I hope Tieria will understand why I did what I did. I hope he's not still mad about me keeping that information about his teammate from him.

It would seem the former Prime Minister's daughter, Reiko Kanzaki, was kidnapped recently by some members of the Northern Territories mafia in a mass abduction where young women are taken and their organs and cyber devices are sold on the black market. It's quite ironic that Assemblyman Kanzaki himself denied that these mass abductions didn't exist when he was in office. He's lucky that he placed his daughter's safety above his political life. I wonder how many others would do the same.
A shame for Cruzkowa though. An error on her target list led to her being abandoned by anyone she turned to for help. It's quite an unfortunate end for a spy.

The conference went well enough, even if some of them are a bit full of themselves, but I suppose that's to be expected.

It's almost amusing how easily men can be distracted with the right incentive. Sometimes I wonder if they keep their cyberbrain between their legs instead of in their skull. I suppose I should be thankful for that, since it helped me get the Chief out of that sticky mess.

A ten-year-old girl coming to look like as an old woman over the space of sixteen years after her abduction. As it would be, a picture taken a week ago that we were sent was not of the girl as she appeared from the time of her abduction, but was instead, of her young daughter.
A brilliant, yet eccentric, mathematician who locked himself away from the world took to the stock market game and discovered he had quite a talent for that. Before he could be placed into protective custody or killed by an underground hitman, he was found to have been dead for several months already. At least Togusa's handling the case clean-up.
It's been a while since we had any big cases like these.

The Tachikomas behavior as of late has been worrying, to say the least. If I can't count on them as reliable back-up or to do their jobs.... I'll be keeping a close eye on them for a week before I make a final decision.

The door alarms to the Tachikoma's docking garage went off around five in the morning. Just what I need, a wild goose chase for a rogue Tachikoma when I have other things to sort through at work. Guess I should to use my remote puppet body to make sure it doesn't get in too much trouble.

I can't believe it. That thief bypassed security and stole my watch. If anyone needs me, I'll be reviewing the security tapes and figuring out who this slippery son of a bitch is.
I know I shouldn't get upset over something so trivial, no matter how much sentimentality is placed on it.

Altered memories and files, a lefty catcher's mitt, a missing portrait.... And Togusa's drawing from his cyberbrain's memory was no good either. Looks like a case of weird memories being dredged up by a weird place.
